"i'd give the world to her, as long as my heart's still beating, as long as she's next to me, because I like her." -> 20191009 i like her by (mac demarco)
2.7k words
notes: use of pet names sweetheart/doll (for reader) and love/darling (for chuuya), established relationship, a lot of flirting and teasing on both ends because they love each other and can handle it, chuuya cursing, chuuya being head over heels for reader, gifting giving as a love language taken to the MAX, just two people being bookworms :3 i hope you enjoy! the bookstore they go to (spoiler alert) is very much based off of a bookstore i went to while visiting my mango anon, so i dedicate this work to her <3
nakahara chuuya who never had time to read or stop to take a breath until he met you. in the sheep, even when he was first taken in, he soon began to help on food runs. once they found out about his ability, there was never a day he got to catch a true break. then joining the mafia kept him busy, and what he few things he did read were half-assed reports or those typed by someone who obviously should have been a novelist rather than a mafia lackey.
for him, there was no middle between never reading and reading something that made him want to set the paper in his hands on fire. but that didn't mean he outright hated the idea of it. he liked the idea of books and the stores and libraries that were filled with shelves of thread-bound tens or hundreds of sheets of paper from every decade of the world; some having recently found their way onto a shelf while others had been printed, placed on shelves, and traded hands for centuries. he liked the idea of the worlds each of the books contained, the different stories they all told, and the inferences and messages people would take with them after finishing a book.
once, he’d been trailing a target who'd entered a nearby bookstore to browse their selection. he'd done his own bit of wandering, mainly to fit in with the atmosphere until it became less of an act and something more genuine—a few covers would catch his eye and he’d felt tempted to pull them off the shelf and buy them right then and there before he remembered what he was here for. but that interaction had been his first experience with the allure of books; it wasn't really something he'd learned in that moment, but, more precisely, from you.
you, who would get too caught up in a book until he'd called your name for the umpteenth time, not angry, but worried about why you weren't responding to him. he'd feared you were purposely ignoring him and was unsure of what he’d done until you’d silenced his concerns with a laugh. when he'd settled onto the couch next to you after finally getting your attention, you'd climbed on top of him, pressing a kiss to his lips, "i'm not mad. i was just reading a good book, i promise."
a book had the ability to distract you that much?
"i just get lost in books sometimes—too focused on what’s happening in the world within them. that's what a good book does," you explained further, his hands trailing down to settle on your sides, pulling you close and flush against him.
he hummed, processing your words. it sounded like an interesting experience and anything you liked he was bound to like, right? the only kind of book he didn't want to read was a mystery. he had enough of that kind of shit in his everyday life when he had to figure out where the hell his rookies went off to every day–not to mention that cursed book he'd been trapped into by that detective boy from the agency several months ago.
a few days after your explanation, he was taking you out on his day off when you both passed the bookstore he'd previously found himself in on that last mission. recognizing the sign that hung on the wall above the store, his feet almost stopped as if he was feeling a pull to return back to the store before he ignored the feeling. noticing his interest in the bookstore, you’d squeezed his hand. "hey, I wanna go in there. can we?" you asked, tilting your head while pointing to the store.
he'd never been able to resist that sweet smile of yours and this is–of course–his day to spoil you, but he still can’t help but tease you a little bit first, "huh? you don't have enough books already?"
you pout, already settled on your decision as you begin tugging him towards the entrance of the store, "how rude! never say that to a bookworm. there's no such thing as having too many books."
"yeah, yeah, sorry." he rolls his eyes half heartedly, but he doesn’t put the effort to tease you above making it to the door before you do, holding it open before walking in after you.
the bookstore is worn, the small bell at the edge of the door more of a dusty bronze than a gold, showing its age. the floorboards have started to bow with how many seasons of cold and warm temperatures they’ve been through and they creak loudly, flattening back into their original flush position whenever he steps on them. there's a large dark walnut wooden ladder reaching the shelves of the store's abnormally high ceiling, looking as cliché as it gets, yet it was the first thing he noticed upon entering the store weeks ago and it’s one of his favorite touches to the store even now.
he almost protests when your fingers slip out of his as you run off to admire in awe a row of books that adorn the top of a piano, but he smiles at the look of wonder in your eyes that only grows when you turn to the left to see a staircase descending down.
"chuuya! look! they have a lower floor!" you say, straightening back up to point at the stairs, looking at him.
he's shoved his hands in his pockets, finally making it back to you after you’d run off and now he's staring you down with a look in his eyes that makes you melt and drop your arm shyly under his adoring gaze, "yeah, you just noticed, sweetheart?"
"well– not a lot of bookstores have something like this," you purse your lips, looking down at the floor, "you're acting like you've been here before."
"i have," he replies, arm coming around your shoulder to guide you to the staircase, where he knows you want to go. you look up at him in surprise as you begin descending the broad wooden planks and he shrugs, "was following someone last week and they came in here. spent like an hour walking around...they must've been a bookworm like you."
you giggle at his words, leaning closer into his touch, pressing a chaste kiss to the underside of his jaw, nuzzling your nose into the side of his neck before pulling away. "well, now you're going to have to watch me wander around this bookstore. don't go too far, alright?"
"says you," he sighs, shaking his head as you run off the moment you reach the bottom of the stairs to the nearest bookshelf. while you spend a few minutes observing every spine lined up in front of you, he begins to wander around on his own, trying to find the books he'd looked at last week. there was no harm in it, right? it looked weirder if he just stood around in the middle of the store waiting for his sweet partner to be done. although, another unique touch to the bookstore was a small projector that hung from the ceiling of the basement of the bookstore. it was casting an old black and white film onto a side of a wall, where a few rows of seats had been placed for anyone wanting to sit for a moment.
but he didn't need to pretend he was here for a reason, he’d wanted to come in here just as much as you did even if he wouldn’t admit it. he soon found himself searching the shelves too, gloves trailing along the edges of several book's spines, ever so often stopping to pull one that stood out to him.
a blow against the shell of his ear makes him jump and he spins around to face you, his cheeks a little pink, "shit, you scared me, doll."
you only give him a teasing smile and laugh, your eyes flickering down to the book in his hand, "did you find something you liked?"
he turns the object around in his eyes, looking at its back as if the answer to your question was supposed to be there. the entire cover was made out of blue thread, and the gold text that had been etched into it had grabbed his attention. "i don't know, i think i just liked how it looked. what about you?"
he can see you holding your hands behind your back and at his prompt, you flash him a grin before revealing a pile of books balanced nicely on top of each other.
the large stack isn't what makes his eyes widen and lips part slightly–it's how familiar all the covers of the books look to him. "did you–?"
"you fell right into my trap, chuu," you keep teasing him and it pieces together.
you had plenty of books, and yeah you could always have more but you hadn’t wanted to come here for you. you'd noticed his slight trip up at the sight of the store, and brought him in here for him. so that he could look at books. you'd been secretly paying attention to what books he'd picked up out of the corner of your eyes. and once he'd finished talking himself out of buying a book and placed it back where he found it, you trailed behind him to pull the book right back off the shelves.
you'd snuck up on him at the end of an aisle, where there were bookshelves on all three sides of you both besides the way you'd come from. he used that to his advantage, suddenly pulling you in by the hip to press you against the bookshelf facing the opposite end of the aisle. to anyone else, he probably only looked like he was browsing the selection this shelf (unless they were unfortunate enough to look just a little bit closer, to the pair of shoes trapped between his own).
you'd exclaimed at the sudden pull, tightening your grip on the books, shuddering when you felt his breath on your neck.
"you're sly, you know that? when'd you start behaving like this?" the words went straight to your stomach where you felt a flutter, and you reached out a hand to grip the sleeve of one of his arms.
"well, i learned from you, of course," you fired back, your mouth immediately going dry at the trail of kisses he left down your neck.
"you're too cute for your own good, you know," he murmured, pulling away, leaving you a blushing mess. "are you done? should we keep going?" he asked, looking at you like nothing had happened.
"i– um– just want to buy these books and then we can leave," you fixed your clothing, trying to cool down.
he quirked a brow, "were you actually interested in those books too? in that case, let me pay–" he reached for the books in your hands but you dodged his attempt, shifting your arms to hold them out to the right.
"no, i'm buying them for you, silly!" you teased, already walking past him before he could process your words and catch you.
"[y/n]—"
"i know what you’re thinking. you didn’t want to buy them in the first place because ‘i’ll never have time to read them... what if I don't like them... blah blah blah…’ but that all changes today. starting now, i'll be taking you on reading dates at least once a month. got it?" you turned to face him on the stairs you were climbing back up and he stopped behind you, a look of surprise on his face. "you'll never know if you like them until you try, chuu."
"i–"
"good, it's settled," you winked before turning back towards the top of the stairs, walking over to the counter.
once you got there? chuuya fought with you to pay, the both of you whipping out your cards while the cashier in front of you continued to stare forward with a smile on their face as if the couple in front of them wasn't shoving at each other, cursing one another out as their arms got tangled up, grabbing at each other's wrists.
your card won in the end, and you laughed triumphantly before placing the books in his hands while he muttered something you couldn't quite catch. when you made it out the door, he'd pulled you by the waist to bring your back flush against his chest again, face pressed into your shoulder, his new books still held at his side. "thank you, doll," he whispered, face slightly muffled by your shoulder.
but you heard it still, turning to place a gentle kiss to the side of his head. "of course, love," you smiled, reaching your arm back to find his free hand, intertwining it with yours. "now, where were we going again? before we got sidetracked by the books?"
"i was going to treat you to coffee," he came back to your side as you both began to walk again.
you bobbed your head at the reminder, "ah, right! although i think you're mistaken. i was going to treat you."
he looked at you from the side, brows furrowed, "hell no. especially not after you paid for these books. you're not gonna win this time, i'll pin your feet to the ground with gravity if i have to."
"you wouldn't dare," you stuck your tongue out at him before looking forward and refusing to say anything else. and he didn't argue back, because you were right. he'd much rather wire his entire savings into your account or pay you back a hundred times over before ever even thinking about using his ability on you in such a way. "hey," you suddenly perked up again and he hummed in response, waiting for you to continue, "do you wanna read at the cafe? or just go home? don't tell me it's up to me, tell me what you want."
he sighed at how quick you were to shut down his default answer, taking a second to think through his answer. "i think i just wanna go home. don't wanna hear anyone's voice but yours."
the way he smirked at you afterward, seeing your face warm at his comment told you that he was flirting on purpose to get a rise out of you. but you also knew by this point that his compliments came from an honest place, it was just for his entertainment that he’d word them in such a way to leave you a blushing mess.
"alright then," you mumbles back, cheeks flushed, "we'll grab something and go home."
and that day off had started a routine. "reading dates" as you had called them.
you.
you.
he loved you.
he loved coming home, no matter the time, and seeing you on his couch, knees pulled to your chest where a book was nestled. he loved the way you beckoned him with a hand and a soft call of his name, carded your fingers through his hair as you changed your position, just to accommodate him, so that he could rest his head in your lap.
sometimes you seemed to read his mind and had the current book he was reading on the other side of you and would hand it to him so that he could read as well. sometimes, you simply rubbed his scalp, telling him, “just rest, darling. how was your day?”
maybe it was because he was always so busy, always on the move, always out of the house and returning home late, but he much preferred staying inside with you on his days off to going out if you didn’t want to. he liked it when you both lay against opposite sides of the couch, legs intertwined where they met in the middle, or when he was nestled between your legs, head resting on your middle as you both read in a peaceful silence.
he liked best when neither of you even made it the couch, but woke up in each others arms, and stayed in bed the whole day. or when he woke up, an arm still slung around your front, keeping you close, but you were sat up, resting against the headboard of his bed, book in hand.
he loved you, it was that simple. it was the root of his life, his purpose for living, the feeling in which everything else could stem from.
perhaps you were a kind of book yourself, always able to take him to another world, where he could be separated from his problems and just focus on the beauty of creation and humankind. and he could do that all just by tracing the side of your face every morning.

Love Sweet Love
Hi guys!
Happy Steph's day ♥
I'm sorry, I haven't posted for a very long time but I'm working on it. I hope you will love this new Chapter of my Steph's series. You don't have to read the first two, but it's a plus I think.
You can find them here : Lightning Love | Struck By Love
Please enjoy ♥
And Happy Birthday to Steffy ♥
TW : None
When you come back from the USA, after your injury against Colombia, Steph makes you live in her house. Officially to help you with your injury and because she doesn’t have any stairs in her new house. Which is really a good point, because almost all of the other people who could have offered their help actually have stairs in their home.
Steph and you have been friends since you were teenagers, so no one asks any questions when you mention that you are living with Steph for now.
With time, your things found a specific place in Steph’s house, and she even made some more space in her closet for your clothes. Your Tottenham jerseys are washed with her Arsenal ones, you share the vegemite pots that your grandmother sends you and you sometimes wear Steph’s shirt to sleep.
You love the intimacy between you and how everything is so easy with Steph. She is the most easy-going person in the world, and you are falling in love even harder with her every day.
You’re a little afraid of when it will be time for you to go back to your own apartment. It will probably be soon, because your cast has been removed two weeks ago, and you now have an ankle splint to help you walk. You are supposed to still use your crutches, even if you don’t when you are home. You prefer jumping around on one foot.
It drives Steph crazy.
Steph isn’t home for two days now, she had a game in Liverpool and left with the Arsenal squad. You weren’t able to go to watch her because you had to go to your rehab. So, you went to watch Tottenham playing at home instead, cheering for your teammates. Charli and her fiancé came with you to walk Calvin those two days and for the others walk you just stayed around Steph’s house or went in the garden with him.
When you come back home after the game, a look at the clock tells you that your girlfriend will be home in one hour.
You are so grateful for Steph, her patience while you were injured and all the little attentions she had for you during this time. So, you decided to thank her with a real good meal tonight, with all the romanticism you have in you.
You set the table with a red tablecloth, a vase with some roses in the middle of the table and some candles. You listened to the florist talking about the number of flowers for the bunch of flowers, not even knowing before that the number had a meaning. Coming back home, you thought a little bit about your ex-girlfriends and wonder what they would think about your behavior.
You kind of explained to Leila what happened with Steph, without giving her the name of your girlfriend. But you needed to explain to her the reality of your feelings and why things didn’t work between you two.
For dinner, you chose Steph’s favourite meal, and you ordered the ingredients needed to be delivered to you here. It’s way easier for you like this, doing your shopping in crutches would have been way too complicated.
Steph’s car wheels squeak on the gravel in front of the house several minutes after. You jump between the fridge and the table with the starters when Steph opens the door.
A cream and red flash passes next to you when Calvin runs to great Steph, making you smile softly. You distinctly hear Steph cooing and greeting Calvin back, before coming in your direction.
“No! Don’t come here! Close your eyes!”
“Why? What have you done?”
You jump on one foot in her direction, seeing that Steph had in fact closed her eyes. She looks so cute with her low bun, her scarf and her training clothes that you can’t help yourself but steal her a kiss.
You feel her smile against your lips and then kiss her cheek when she talks.
“Is it to distract me about the fact that you are walking without your crutches?”
“No” you giggle. “Can you walk without opening your eyes please?”
You take her bag from her hand and put your hands on her shoulder to walk easier towards the table. You make her stop and move to be able to watch her reaction.
“Ok, now you can open your eyes” you say when you are in the right place.
You totally ignore the table you settled a little bit before, your eyes only looking at her. Steph’s eyes go wild for a moment while she takes everything in sight. You are suddenly nervous, wondering if it’s maybe too much. Or stupid? You never talked about it finally, but isn’t a girl supposed to like being surprised?
Maybe it’s not a good idea finally, after being away Steph maybe just wants to take a shower and go to bed.
“Did you do all of it yourself?” she asks finally, turning to face you.
“Yeah” you nod, fidgeting with your fingers. “I wanted to thank you properly for the way you took so good care of me while I was just like a burden hurt teenager. I am really thankful for you and your patience and your kindness”
You are totally rambling now, talking a little too fast and almost breathless. You weren’t looking at her while talking, looking at the flowers in the middle of the table. But when you feel her grab your hand, you look at your girlfriend again.
“You have nothing to thank me for, I did it because I wanted it. Even if you are terrible to look after, you little troublemaker”
You smile shyly and let yourself relax when she hugs you. You pass your hands around her neck, taking advantage of your position to breathe her scent. You really missed her.
“Do you mind if I go take a shower quickly before we eat, though?”
“No, it’s a great idea. You stink” you smirk.
You giggle when she smacks you behind your head, clinging against her when she pretends to push you away.
“You’re so mean”
“Yes, but I made diner”
She rolls her eyes and smiles before you let her go. She doesn’t smell at all, but you totally understand the need to take a shower and refresh herself after a long travel day.
You lean on the furniture behind you, looking at her leaving to go to the bathroom.
“Steph?” you call her just before she closes the door.
“Yeah?”
You look at her curious face exceeding the port frame two seconds before smiling softly.
“I really missed you”
Her eyes go soft, and you would literally die for the smile coming on her face right now. There is a tenderness in her eyes, and you sometimes are still surprised when you realise that it is destined to you.
“I missed you too” she says softly. “I’ll be quick, okay?”
“Yeah” you smile back.
You look at her going inside the room again, before jumping back towards the kitchen.
“Use your crutches!” you hear her shout from the bathroom.
You roll your eyes again before deciding to oblige and go to look for them. You don’t really know where you left them, and you finally spot them next to the door of Steph’s bedroom. Then you go back to the kitchen and start to warm up a little what you will eat after the starters.
A little lost in your thoughts, you don’t hear Steph coming back. She takes you by surprise, passing her arms around your waist and kissing your cheek at the same time. You almost jump off your skin, which she seems to find very funny.
“You’re so annoying” you grumble, even if you are smiling.
You just can’t resist her laugh.
“I’m sorry. What can I do to help you?”
“Just put your ass on that chair, Catley”
“As you wish”
You weren’t expecting her to take you in her arms, carrying you like a bride, to the table. She then puts you in your chair before sitting in front of you. That wasn’t exactly how you were picturing things, but it’s maybe better like this. At least you aren’t scowled one more time because of those damn crutches.
You have to admit that you are pretty satisfied about how you were able to cook everything. You like cooking, you sometimes don’t have the time or even the energy to do it. But today you really liked cooking for your girlfriend.
After the diner, you went for a quick walk with Calvin and then to the living room. Arsenal men are playing, and it probably will be a good game. You take advantage to snuggle against Steph, happy to find her arms back. She absently strokes your back under your shirt while watching the game, talking sometimes about something that comes into your minds.
“Dean wrote to me earlier today” Steph says casually.
You feel your heart missing a beat and a strange feeling in the bottom of your stomach. All the fun you had after sharing Calvin's last mischief in the park is now very far away.
“What did he want?”
Your tone is flat, probably giving Steph a hint that you may not be handling this information as easily as you should.
“He wanted to see Calvin”
You can feel her eyes on you, but you look straight in front of you, looking at the TV screen without really looking at it.
“I thought Calvin was your dog only, not his?” you frown.
“He’s mine only, but he still wants to see him again”
You just hum for any answer. You don’t believe it for a single second, in your opinion it’s just an excuse to be able to see Steph again. You know that your girlfriend is the one who ended the things between them. Now that some time has passed, maybe he wants to see if they maybe could get closer again.
You don’t like the strange feeling, now not only in your stomach, but in all your body. You maybe are with Steph for several weeks even months now, but you still don’t take your relationship for granted. You are fully aware that you can lose Steph at any time. Few people know about your relationship after all, it would probably not mean much in the eyes of the world. To yours, however, it would be worse than anything.
On another hand, you can’t tell her that you don’t want her to see him. You won’t take that right.
You raise your eyes on Steph when she pokes at your ribs, to see that she’s still looking at you.
“You know that if I ended things and cancelled my engagement with him, it’s for a good thing, right?”
“Of course” you mumble, looking at the screen again.
She already told you that he might have a thing with a girl he was talking to while they were still together. But other than that, you never really asked about him. Steph never mentioned him either, to be fair.
“Are you still talking to him regularly?” you ask finally, raising your eyes on her again.
“Nope. It was the first time he wrote to me since Christmas. You’re the one being friend with your ex”
She’s right here. Since the confessions you made to Leila, you and her are friends again. She started throwing teasing comments on your Instagram’s post again and you call each other from time to time.
“If it bothers you…” you begin while sitting.
“Not at all” she smiles “It was just to point out that you are still in contact with one of your exes too. But I trust you.”
“I trust you too. But Leila knows we are together. Your ex doesn’t even know that you aren’t single anymore.”
“I’ll let him know, okay?”
She’s looking at you with so much affection that you can only smile back at her. You feel your body relax again and you cuddle closer to her again.
“Okay” you say, burying your face in her hoodie.
********
Several days later, you are finally able to walk without any crutches, having received the green light from the physio team. You don’t feel any discomfort in your foot anymore and it’s a really good point.
In fact, you were even able to train with the rest of the team today and that makes you happier than ever. You probably won’t be able to play that weekend, but it’s obvious that it will be okay for next week.
You are practically hopping when you come home that day, parking your car next to Steph’s one in the driveway. You frown when you see that there is another car too, not recognizing it like Beth’s car or even one of her teammates. In your memories, no one is driving a Skoda.
Like usual, Calvin comes to greet you when you arrive, this time silently stroking himself around your legs. You pet him, before hearing voices coming from the living room.
“I just… It doesn't make any sense to me. I thought you were friend with her, nothing else”
Dean. What the hell is he doing here? You frown again, taking two steps to be able to hear better what is happening in that living room. None of them heard you coming in.
“Nothing ever happened while we were together, Dean” you hear Steph sigh.
“Still. She just waited for us to be over to shoot her shot?”
“Not at all. She doesn’t even say anything, I kind of pushed her to know about her breakup at Emily’s wedding and… Well, you don’t have to know everything, but I was the one figuring out alone her feelings for me. Then all clicks and it was like evidence”
There is a beam of silence, only broken by Calvin chewing with application one of Dean’s shoes. You let him do it with a cold satisfaction. You don’t like the way that man tries to make you pass for the one corrupting Steph in the wrong way.
In contrast, you love the way Steph doesn’t share everything with him. It belongs to you and her, not him.
“And just for the record, you were the one getting over it very quickly with that girl from your medical team”
“It wasn’t serious. She was just a rebound”
“You were talking with her when we were still together.”
You can easily picture Steph, her eyebrow arched, and her arms crossed on her chest.
“It was a mistake” he sighs. “I shouldn’t have done that. If I knew it would push you to end things between us, I wouldn’t even have looked at her.”
“She wasn’t the reason for our breakup. I mean maybe a small part of it, but it wasn’t the big deal. What I said at this point was valid and still is. I just don’t have any love feeling for you anymore”
Must be painful to hear, but at least you have to give credit to Steph for standing her ground and being clear with him. You empathise a little bit with him though, you will be destroyed if Steph ended things between you. Even if you never will talk to someone else like he did.
“Okay but what will you do when you will want to start a family? You won’t even be able to do it together”
Okay, we are now finished with empathy. Maybe now is the best time to make your appearance. You go for the door again, opening it without any discretion.
“Love, I'm home!” you shout happily while almost slamming the door.
You take off your shoes quickly without even untie the laces, petting Calvin’s head.
“Living room” you hear her answer.
Deciding to put it more in the show, you start to talk while you are still outside the room.
“Did you know that Hayl… Oh. Hi.”
Dean and Steph are both standing in the room, separated by at least two meters from each other. You look at the both of them, taking the situation. He seems upset and doesn’t answer anything, and you drag your gaze away from him when Steph talks.
“Hi Sweets. How was training?”
“Great”
You smile at her and hesitate to go for her, but when she raises her arm to invite you to hug her, you don’t hesitate. You pass your arms around her waist, kissing her cheek softly. You don’t want to push things too far either, you know she won’t like it.
You cringe a little at the silence coming after that, exchanging a glance with Steph. You want to know what the hell is this guy doing here, but you don’t really know how to ask that question.
“Dean informed me that he found some of my things in his boxes and wanted to give them back” Steph informs you.
You probably will be forever grateful at how much Steph knows you and seems to read into you. You just nod before turning your eyes toward him. He was already looking at you and you know that look perfectly. He seems to be jealous of your proximity, but you won’t move.
Maybe it’s a stupid thing to want to mark territory, but you don’t want him to pop randomly at Steph’s door, now that he knows where she lives. Anyway, you don’t take your hand off of your girlfriend’s back.
“Lucky you were home” you finally answer.
“I didn’t realise I needed to ask for approval to see my ex-fiancée” he growls.
“She lives here too, actually” Steph intervenes before you even can open your mouth “She has her words to say”
You use your better poker face at this, because you totally aren’t living here officially. Now that you are able to walk correctly you could probably go back to your home, but you never really left. Steph never asked you to do and never made you feel like you were too much here.
“I have to go” Dean finally says. “I have training”
You don’t move but Steph nods, saying goodbye too. You can’t hide the smile creeping on your face when you hear him grumbling when he finds his chewed shoe, Calvin now sleeping peacefully on his bed next to the couch.
You love that dog.
When the door is closed, you feel Steph take a deep breath and lean a little more against you. You realised how tense she was, but you are surprised by such a relief.
“Are you okay?” you ask quietly, kissing her temple.
“It was the first time I saw him since I left our home” she explains to you. “I told him I was seeing someone without saying your name, but he didn’t want to leave before knowing how you are. I’m sorry, I don’t think we will be able to hide our relationship for any longer”
“It’s not a problem for me” you shrug. “People have known that I love women since my teenage era. What about you, though?”
“I don’t know” she begins slowly. “I haven’t any problem with Kyra knowing it to be honest. But maybe I’ll need to talk about it to my family first”
“Okay. If you need me, just tell me, yeah?”
Stephs smile softly at you, and you kiss her for good this time. The kiss is soft and slow, and you feel her thumb stroking your cheek softly.
“So, what did Hayley do?”
********
Later that day, you are looking at the ceiling, lost in your thoughts. Even if you tried all the rest of the day to forget about Dean and what he said, some things are dancing in your mind.
Did Steph and him talked about starting a family? And if it was the case, why does it bother you so much? They planned to get married; you shouldn’t be so disturbed with that. You know you are lucky to finally be with the girl of your dreams, but that strange feeling in the bottom of your stomach won’t go away.
You tried to distract yourself by cooking with Steph, playing some video games with her and telling her about your first training back since your injury, and it went pretty great to be honest.
But now with Steph under the shower and Calvin sleeping, you are alone with your thoughts.
“I was waiting for you to come with me”
Steph’s teasing voice makes you smile softly. You turn on your side to look at her when she enters the room, wearing a big shirt and probably panties, even if you can’t see them given the size of that shirt.
“You are the most beautiful girl in the world” you mumble.
Your smile grows wider when she rolls her eyes and makes one grimace of her own. You love her with her hair down.
“That’s true!”
“It’s not” she giggles while coming with you under the cover.
“Yes it is”
You let her have the time to lie on her back before you lay on her, sighing with ease. It’s your favourite spot in the world. You enjoy her stroke in your hair while she scrolls on her phone for several minutes, before starting to draw shapes on her hips with your fingertips.
“I can hear your brain boiling, Sweetheart” Steph finally says. “What’s going on?”
You bite your lips softly, looking for a way to approach things. Because she doesn’t know that you heard a big part of her conversation with Dean, and you don’t want to upset her. Your silence pushes her to try to guess what’s in your mind.
“Is it football related?” she asks first, and you shake your head no. “Is it about us?”
“Kinda” you hesitate. “I just…”
“Is it about something you heard earlier?”
Damn. You look at her, stunned, torn between guilt and amazement. You can see the ghost of a smile on her face and her eyes shining with fun.
“Do you think I really don’t know you?”
You roll your eyes with a smile, accepting the teasing easily. She doesn’t seem mad, and she waited for you to show something to talk about it. You really don’t deserve that girl.
“I didn’t want to intrude. I didn’t know it was him” you shrug.
“I knew it the second you passed the door” she smirks, making you smile too. “Plus, I don’t have anything to hide from you. What part of the discussion is playing with your head?”
Sitting on her hips, you pass a hand in your hair. You don’t know how to express yourself and how to tell her things. Once again, you don’t want to fight with her. But you promised each other early in your relationship that you will always discuss and talk about things, not to drag any misunderstandings along.
Steph waits patiently, looking softly at you while playing with the edge of your shirt. You finally decide to go straight to the point, it will be easier like this.
“When he talked about having a family. Is it something you discussed together?”
You try hard to fight against the pictures coming in your mind, focusing on your girlfriend’s pretty face.
“Not really” she frowns. “We were both into sport and I don’t think it was time for us to have this conversation. He was very traditional you know, first dating then living together, then engagement… One thing at time”
It does make sense actually. You nod softly, trying to process this information.
“But was it something you wanted?”
You watch her looking at you with a little bit of… angst maybe? That doesn’t seem good and just when you were going to tell her that you finally don’t want to know the answer to that question, she starts to talk again.
“No, not really. It’s very selfish but I wanted to finish my career before even thinking about it”
Oh. That wasn’t what you were expecting. It’s probably strange to feel a little relieved about it.
“It’s not selfish” you assure her with a smile, redrawing the features of her face with your fingers. “We, women, have to choose between sport or baby. It’s so stupid”
She nods softly, suddenly lost in her thoughts. It looks like things were exchanged because several minutes before you were the one thoughtful. Now you feel lighter than ever.
“What is it?” you ask, tilting your head on the side.
“What about you?”
“I was never serious enough in my relationships to even talk about it” you roll your eyes.
“That doesn’t mean you don’t want to have kid one day”
She has a point. You feel your cheek getting redder because to be honest, the idea of you and Steph with a little kiddo running with Calvin in a big garden is something you would love. Maybe even back in Australia, who knows.
“I do want kids, but not carelessly. I want to have time for them, all of that…”
“Okay” Steph smiles softly.
“And a great mummy to raise them with me” you add, winking at her.
“Okay” Steph says again, laughing this time.
“But not now, though”
“Not now”
Steph repeats your sentence before suddenly grabbing you by your hips to change your position, making you lie under her while she straddles you.
“We have something else to discuss first” she says.
“Oh, do we?”
“Yeah. What do I need to do for you to live officially here? Lose your keys? Burn your house?”
“You just have to ask” you laugh.
“In that case… Would you like to live here with me?”
“I’d love to”
She smiles at you with so much tenderness that you feel your heart almost burst with love. Taking her gently by the collar of her shirt, you drag her towards you to kiss her. She doesn’t wait any second to kiss you back, making you smile against her lips.
“You’re such a dork” you giggle shortly after.
“You love me, though” she answers, her head now on your shoulder.
“I do. You don’t know yet how much I do”
“I love you too.”

Part 3: This Is a Heart-To-Heart
With pursed lips and a clicking tongue, Russell’s eyes skimmed the seemingly endless aisle of breakfast cereals, his pointer finger drifting from box to box before it landed on the Lucky Charms. His lips rose to a satisfied grin, his heart skipping a beat as a memory popped into his mind.
The supermarket’s PA speakers announced the opening of a third cash register during the evening rush as Colter stood idly by, hands in the pockets of his jacket, and blew a raspberry. In his periphery, Russell could see his younger brother check his watch for the fifth time and smiled a little to himself.
“Russ, uhm, hate to break up your very serious choice of breakfast cereal here, but we need to move. We’re gonna be late,” Colter finally dared to remind him. Russell had wondered how long it would take. “Can’t you do your grocery shopping some other time?”
Russell only chuckled at that. “Oh, this isn’t that. I need this for tonight.”
“Uh-huh.” Colter wasn’t entirely convinced. “You do know we’re invited to dinner, right? There’s gonna be food. You don’t need to bring a–,” his eyes narrowed at the item Russell threw into the cart, “–box of Lucky Charms. Wow. Okay…” Colter scratched the nape of his neck. “You know, most people bring a bottle of wine. Flowers… You want me to–”
“Nope, I’m good.” Russell shook his head. “I have a plan, alright?”
“Oh, so now you have a plan?” Colter deadpanned. “Where was that plan when I got beat up in a supermarket alley?”
Russell snorted a laugh and cocked his brow. “Is that why you’re so jumpy since we walked in here? Did she actually give you supermarket PTSD?”
“I’m not jumpy,” Colter defended with a too defensive shrug.
“Well, alright, I’m almost done here,” Russell assured him and pulled out a tiny piece of paper with unreadable scribbles on it – his shopping list. “All I need now are Nacho Cheese Doritos, rocky road ice cream, brownies, and potato chips. Luckily, I already got the beer in the trunk.”
Colter’s frown deepened, but his lips quirked a tiny smile of amusement. “Alright, should I even ask?”
Russell laughed. “Trust me. Those are all the things I need to win her back. I know what I’m doing.”
Colter relented with a sigh. “Alright, gimme the list. I track down the snack aisle.”
“If you find them, I’ll give you a five dollar reward, little brother,” Russell quipped, earning him the middle finger as Colter rounded the corner.
Russell exhaled a sigh of relief once he was alone. All afternoon, he’d wracked his brain if he could or should tell Colter about you – about the fact he had a wife and two kids. Was now the right moment? Or had it already come and gone?
And if Russell was looking for a petty excuse, he could just audaciously claim Colter never asked. Never asked if Russell had someone special in his life. Never asked if he was an uncle yet. So, was it really on Russell to offer information that was never asked of him? Now, that wasn’t really his nature, was it?
Like he said, petty excuses…
Russell knew it was (mostly) on him. He did give way to the illusion he was a lone wolf without any strings anywhere. At the end of all his pondering, however, he came to the conclusion it was best to let you navigate how to proceed. You’d always been his compass.
On a late summer evening, with the sun slowly approaching the horizon and dipping the suburban cul-de-sac in shades of golden orange, you found two men on your doorstep: One who only looked familiar despite knowing him almost your entire adult life, and one who seemed familiar, even though you’d never met him before, but some unmistakable features and mannerisms reminded you of your husband.
Said husband beamed at you from ear to ear, carrying two paper bags worth of groceries in his arms. “Hey, sweetheart.”
The heart in your ribcage pounded faster as your eyes landed on his smile. Nothing and no one ever broke your composure or pulled the rug out from under your feet – but Russell had always managed to do both since day one.
“Well, I guess… come on in, guys,” you said with a small sigh of hesitation and held the door open wider, mentally preparing for an entirely unplanned night – they usually were whenever you spent time with the green-eyed chaos theory.
Never in a million years did you think you’d end up here when you met a young soldier on a sunny day at the American embassy in Iraq and put him through a baptism of enemy gunfire only a few hours later. And to be fair, he’d always been handsome, but the quirky shit didn’t reveal itself till later. If Russell Shaw had been a book, you would’ve definitely misjudged him by his cover.
Russell set the brown bags down on the kitchen island, a small smirk flickering across his plump lips. Internally, you heaved another sigh. Of course the idiot would think about sex – a curse conjured up by your own making. If Russell ever had a bad influence in his life, it would’ve been you.
“So, what did you bring me here?” you entertained his little plan, spying into one of the bags. You already had a pretty strong inkling of what might be inside, your heart swelling that he, A, cared and, B, even went as far as making a thoughtful, swoon-worthy effort.
He used to do these things all the time – till it all eventually stopped.
“Only the best for my girl,” Russell said, chuckling giddily as he hauled a tub of rocky road from a bag as if he was making a bunny appear from a hat. Only in your opinion, it was a way better magic trick.
“Oh no, you are the fucking best!” You squeezed his shoulders, short of jumping fully on him, with a grin from ear to ear. Your cheek muscles even began to hurt. You hadn’t smiled this much in ages. “Look at this! You even got brownies! You’re unbelievable, Shaw. You know I’ve been craving this shit for months. We’re supposed to be an organic family,” you explained with an eye roll, your hands still rummaging eagerly through the bags.
“Yeah, I figured somethin’ like this. Remember when you had to pretend to be vegetarian for that greenwashing gala?”
“God, don’t remind me. The asshole served cauliflower steaks and then turned around and shot a fucking lion,” you scoffed, both of you chuckling at the memory. Russell had been right in the chicken coop – it felt like no time had passed at all.
Not touching him and falling into his strong, warm embrace was hard. Not kissing him was harder. And being in his near vicinity without doing any of these things was unbearable. You weren’t just important to Russell; he was important to you, too. For a long time, he’d been the only person you could trust and confide in. You never lied to each other – that had been a rule.
“Wow, okay, so this is different,” Colter noted, you and Russell both glancing up at the young man across the island. As he was only met with two furrowed brows, he clarified, a finger gesturing to your cross necklace. “Just the-, uh, the whole swearing… I mean, at church you were… you know.”
You laughed when you realized what he meant. God knows your aliases had confused the shit out of Russell in the beginning, too – till he learned to take advantage of your role-playing skills. Then, he had tons of fun with it.
“Yeah, I know. Quite the mind-fuck, isn’t it? I usually only pretend to be someone else for a short job – a day or two, a single event. Deep-covers like this aren’t my favorite either,” you shared and hoped it would signal to Colter that he could relax. If his shoulders became any tenser, you’d worry they might freeze that way.
“Speaking of, where’s your husband?” Russell chimed in with a teasing grin.
For the briefest second, your reply would’ve been, “Which one?” Russell could see it, too – the twinkle in your eyes – but then you stopped short when you noticed his look.
Colter didn’t know you two were married. Oh, Russell…
“Basement. Finishing up our report,” you said in a quieter voice, turning on the faucet of the kitchen sink.
Colter’s brow knitted with an amused smile when Russell turned on the radio as well. “Is that really necessary?”
“Can’t be too careful,” both you and Russell replied, not even noticing you spoke at the same time, too zoned in on your routine.
“Who’s your mark?” Russell then asked, leaning back against the kitchen island in an angle that shielded his presence from the window as you got to work on your fake dishes.
“Congressman Eric Mueller.”
“A congressman? Really?” Colter’s brow raised before his eyes showed a little intrigue. “What’d he do?”
“Selling sensitive national security information to foreign agents,” you answered.
“How’s the pastor involved?” Russell asked, opening a box of Lucky Charms and stuffing a handful of dry cereal into his mouth.
“How do you know he’s involved?”
Russell only chuckled at your blatant diversion. “Oh, c’mon! You’re an open-minded person. I know you don’t hate the man for no reason. So, what’s the reason?”
You sighed in proud defeat – checkmate for Russell. “Mueller is laundering money through the church. Pastor’s taking a cut.”
“And?”
“He’s a pedo,” you finally admitted, dumping a clean plate ungraciously into the soapy water before swinging around to meet Russell’s eyes.
“There it is…” He nodded with a winning smirk that felt wrong, rubbing a hand through his beard. “Thought I caught a bit of a creeper vibe. Figured it was just all the kumbaya Jesus shit.”
“I wish… Every time he touches my arm, I wanna cut his hand off with a fucking spoon.”
“Well, we might get to that later if we find the time,” Russell quipped, flicking a marshmallow into the air before catching it with his mouth. You frowned – your son did the same damn thing in the mornings. “What information is Mueller selling?”
“Security protocols, blueprints…” you replied.
“To what?”
“Mall of America,” was all you said before the kitchen fell silent. Crickets. Well, and the faucet and radio… “Our intel suggests they’re planing an attack in December.”
“Well, merry Christmas,” Russell huffed bitterly. “So, that’s the carrot.”
“Yup, that’s the carrot,” you confirmed.
The lives of innocent children and families going about their Christmas shopping in America’s biggest mall was what the agency used to lure you back into the field – the carrot in front of your nose.
For days, you had debated whether to take the job or not, leave your family, and go back undercover to do things no one else wanted to do. But one look through the door at your peacefully sleeping son and daughter made the decision for you. How could you not go? If you didn’t do this, other parents might not get the same courtesy of seeing their children safe and sound in their beds and kissing them goodnight. So, you left your children for the sake of others.
Russell nodded with understanding, telling you he would’ve done the same thing if he were in your shoes. You knew he would have. Still, a part of you felt incredibly guilty, always hoping that Lewis and Amelia would understand someday when they were older.
“Who is it? Russia? China?” Russell asked.
“Neither. It’s an extremist splinter group. Has ties to both ISIS and Hezbollah, but works mostly out of Iran,” you said.
“How did you infiltrate Mueller? A guy trying to blow up a mall doesn’t strike me as a good Christian,” Russell noted.
“Well, he’s not, but his wife, Clara, is. She’s very involved in the church. Was easy to get in this way. I helped her with a few charity events. She got me a job as a bookkeeper for the church, not knowing I’d actually find a bunch of evidence there. Afterward, she invited me for coffee. Now, we have brunch on Mondays, play bridge on Wednesdays and tennis on Fridays. I’m at her house all the time. God knows I have the place bugged in every room now at this point…”
“Bridge,” Russell snorted in amusement, earning him a scolding glare from you. “Does she know?”
You shook your head. “Nope, doesn’t have a clue what her husband’s up to. Wonder what that feels like…” you muttered the last sentence under your breath, Russell narrowing his eyes at you. “He was in the Navy. Stationed in Pakistan. We think he got approached there. He was probably a sleeper agent till he got elected.”
“How far is he in it?”
“Honestly, can’t say. He might be fully turned or just doing it for the money and glory.”
“Glory?” Colter cocked a brow.
You confirmed his shock with a nod. “The mall’s in his district. After the attack, the plan is to portray him as a hero who vows to avenge his constituents. Puts him on the map as running mate for the next election.”
“Then they’d have someone on the top level,” Russell deduced thoughtfully and then found your eyes. “We can help.”
You felt the creases between your eyebrows deepening.
“Yeah, and I already told you – no, thank you,” you huffed, shaking your head. “I didn’t tell you all this as a sitrep, Russ. I told you, so you know we have everything under control, and you can leave again.”
“We both know I’m not going anywhere,” Russell replied stubbornly, his stern gaze drilling into yours. “I can help.”
Undeniably, Russell, with his expertise and certain skill set, would be a helpful addition. You had never trusted someone more in the field than him. The two of you had been an unstoppable team. After almost twenty years together, you could communicate with just a single look. You knew he always had your back, just as he knew you’d always have his – and in the espionage life, that was probably the greatest asset of all.
However, while your mind all too eagerly agreed with him, your heart protested just as heavily. It was a high-risk, high-stakes operation, and a part of you wanted to protect him and keep him as far away from it as possible. You’d known that feeling almost your whole adult life – since the day you’d met him, you had wanted to protect him. Whenever you ignored him, shot him down, or even left him, you were always doing it for his own good. Protecting him meant sometimes hurting him.
But the persistent motherfucker never listens…
Bringing your husband into this and turning your children into orphans wasn’t your only fear, though. There was still Colter.
“Oh, I know you can. I trained you. Remember?” you retorted with a fiery look.
Russell clicked his tongue. “So, this isn’t about me. It’s about him.”
“Oh, ‘cause I’m not one of you guys?” Colter quirked a brow and assured you with easiness in the shrug of his shoulders, “I can handle it.”
Ignoring him, your focus stayed on Russell – the culprit. “You brought a fucking clueless wildcard into a clandestine operation! No offense, Colter…”
“None taken,” Colter said with pursed lips.
“Bad move, Shaw,” you continued directing your anger at your husband.
“I can vouch for him. He’s good, alright? Trust me. He helped me out with something before. And just recently, he even stumbled onto a DoD black site,” Russell reasoned with a weak chuckle like he was sharing the family newsletter.
Your frown intensified. “Yeah, the word stumbled really fills me with tons of confidence here.” Then, you expelled a deep sigh. “Look, I know you two had a weird fucking childhood, but you, of all people, know it’s not the same thing! He isn’t trained for this.” Your eyes then drifted to the younger Shaw. “No offense, Colter, but if I ever need someone to kill a bunny, I call.”
“Little offense taken,” Colter quipped with a creased brow.
“I assure you he’s good, alright? Great, even,” Russell said, stepping closer to you. Your heart jittered, the movement like dominos that fell a path from your ribs up your spine and down your arms where goosebumps formed in their wake. “Everything he doesn’t know, I’ll teach him on the road. You don’t have to worry about a thing, sweetheart. Shaws are excellent at improvising. Remember the helicopter?”
“I remember screaming and wishing to die quickly for two hours straight.”
Russell pursed his lips, hiding an amused smile.
“You can fly a helicopter?” Colter asked, brow rising in genuine interest. He slightly leaned forward as if to hear better, cherishing those bits and pieces of his brother’s mysterious life. He hoped one day he would’ve collected enough of them till the nonsensical puzzle matched the picture on the box.
“Yup,” Russell grinned boyishly, wagging his eyebrows. “Named her Birdie. She was a beauty.”
“She was a piece of shit. And he couldn’t fly at the time, hence all the screaming on my part,” you clarified.
“She made me take flying lessons after, but honestly, I had a pretty good handle on it the first time round,” Russell bragged, earning him another frown from you. His irresistibly green eyes then bored into yours. “But it worked, didn’t it? We’re both still here, right?”
You exhaled another long sigh. You hated when he was right.
“Just take tonight to think about it, okay?”
“Fine, I’ll think about it,” you softened, feeling a warm palm gently splay across your back – slightly lower than a friend would place it. You knew Russell was lulling you into agreement – you had taught him that damn trick yourself – but you couldn’t deny it felt so, so, so nice.
“C’mon, ice cream’s melting. Let’s get some unhealthy food into you before you chew someone else’s head off,” Russell teased.
“I am kinda hungry,” you admitted in a meek mumble.
“Oh, I know. I can tell.” Russell chuckled behind you and kissed the top of your head, his arms snaking around your waist.
Fuck. It felt too good. Too familiar.
You wanted his hands to wander down, fingers lifting your skirt, brushing along your inner thighs on their way up. You wanted his head buried between your burning legs, fingers bruisingly gripping your hips while his tongue dipped into your heat. You wanted him to step even closer, tear your lace panties down, pry your buttcheeks apart, and take you hard and deep.
God, you hadn’t had sex in forever. Who could think clearly like that?
Swaying out of his embrace, you grabbed one of the paper bags and looked at him suggestively. “Wanna take this downstairs? I have to show you something.”
Russell’s lips twitched with a smile. He knew what it meant – not here.
His gaze then drifted to Colter. “You’re gonna be alright up here for a while?”
“I’m good.” His little brother nodded with a shadow of a smile as if he had only waited for the moment the two of you would excuse yourselves and retreat.
“I’ll send Tom up here. Have him brief you,” you said, both brothers’ eyes then blinking at you.
“Does this mean I’m in?” Colter asked.
“If you want to, you’re in,” you stated and muzzled a sigh.
Colter’s head bobbed for a moment, a hand scratching his throat. “Well, not exactly something you say no to.”
Russell and you shared an amused look and both replied, “We know.”
“Oh, Tom’s also made some lasagna. I’ll tell him to feed you,” you added kindly.
“Thank you.” Colter matched your smile.
“Whoa, not so fast,” Russell threw in, pointing an accusatory finger at you. “Did your cute little hands have any involvement in the making of said meal?”
“No, Tom wouldn’t let me get near it,” you huffed with an annoyed eye roll.
“Smart man,” Russell quipped and then turned to his younger brother. “You should be safe to eat it, then.”
His joke earned him a whack of his chest from you.
“Ow!”
Russell followed you down the creaking wooden steps to the basement. The walls were still raw, the giant room unrenovated. In passing, you switched on the washing machine for an adequate noise level and pulled back the thick, navy curtains to reveal a whole setup with desks and computers.
Russell whistled lowly, green eyes flashing around the room. “Got the whole spy gear down here, huh?”
“Yup.”
Sliding an old artwork to the side, you entered a code into the wall safe. It held mostly sensitive information but also some personal items. You retrieved your private phone before locking it again. You scrolled through your photos until you found what you were looking for, handing it to Russell.
As soon as his eyes landed on a picture of his son on a swing set – with a grin brighter than the sun and one that looked just like a copy of his father’s – Russell inhaled sharply, his grip on the phone tightening.
“He looks like you,” you said softly, leaning your head against his bicep, tangling your arms around his. Then, you swiped to the next picture. “That’s Amelia on her second birthday. She liked blowing out the candles so much, I had to light them seventeen times in a row,” you giggled. But Russell only swallowed thickly, quietly laying the phone down on top of the dryer. You could see the tears well in his eyes again. “Was this too much? I’m sorry.”
Russell shook his head, offering you a sad smile. “No, uhm, it’s too little.”
“Yeah, I get that. Feels like they change every time I turn around. Bet they’re already looking different now,” you said with the same regret-filled sadness in your voice.
“When this is over, you think I could see them?”
The hopefulness shimmering in his green orbs devastated you, adding a few more cracks to your already damaged and bruised heart.
“Of course you can. You can see them as much as you want,” you assured him. “Maybe Amelia first? She’s still little. I mean, it’s just–”
“No, I get it,” he brushed off your concerns with an easy smile, but you could see all the hurt underneath it. “Lewis is older. It’s more complicated. He probably doesn’t even remember me.”
“Russ… Of course he remembers you,” you said. “You’re his dad. He has a picture of you on his nightstand. He talks to you every day.”
Russell snorted a humorless chuckle, the guilt eating him alive from the inside out. “Kinda makes it worse, doesn’t it?”
“I don’t think it does,” you replied, smiling softly. “He missed you. We all did.”
Russell’s lips on yours took you by surprise, reminding you of the first kiss you’d shared – only back then, the roles had been reversed, and he’d been the shocked one.
The kiss was gentle and tentative, nothing hasty or thoughtless about it. He still tasted the same. He still felt the same, even though the beard tickled slightly. His large hands cupped your face – a perfect fit – his thumb sweetly caressing your cheek as he pulled back, hazy pine green eyes searching for yours.
“Sorry,” he said with a rather unapologetic smile and a bob of his Adam’s apple. “Couldn’t hold back any longer.”
“It’s fine,” you mumbled with a half-hearted shrug and tiptoed up to claim his lips again, your arms draping around his neck and pulling him closer.
What started slow and careful became a fever dream when your tongue slipped inside his mouth, his hands wandering down your sides till they reached their rightful place on your lower back. Your mind flooded with every kiss, every touch the two of you had ever shared, your heart close to bursting because it had found its missing piece again.
As he drew back, his nose brushed yours, his fingers lovingly tucking a few strands of hair behind your ear. His eyes then focused on the top of your head. A smile rose on your lips, guessing his intentions.
“Can I?”
You nodded, biting down on your bottom lip. “Go ahead.”
Carefully, he lifted the wig from your head, and a few sorries and giggles later, the fake hair was gone. Removing the hair clips and tie, you gestured with your chin to the desk.
“Can you hand me that blue case?”
Russell grabbed the small case and turned to you with a cheeky smile. “Eye drops, too?”
You nodded, and he came back to you with the requested items. Pulling your eyelids open with your fingers, you took out the colored lenses, placing them back in their case.
Russell held up the eye drops. “Want me to do the honors?”
You giggled and gave him another nod. “Yes, please. You know I hate doing that stuff.” Russell then gently pulled down your eyelid as you tilted your head back. “God, this feels so sexy…”
Russell laughed, the sound reverberating deep in his chest. “You’re always sexy. Doesn’t matter if I’m giving you eye drops or stitching you up.”
“That’s sweet, but shut up. We both know you’re lying. You’ve sewn me back together in some pretty rough states,” you remarked, but your cheeks couldn’t stop from rising higher and higher.
“And vice versa,” Russell said simply, administering the last drop into your right eye.
“Ugh, fucking burns.” You sniffled, blinking your eyes a couple of times till the sting subsided.
Russell’s hands then cupped your cheeks, bringing your focus to him. He smiled at you, bright and warm. “There she is,” he said softly, his voice only a whisper. Your heart tugged in your chest, trying to squeeze itself through your ribs just to be closer to him. “Missed those beautiful eyes.”
“You’re so cheesy,” you teased and pressed your lips on his, slow and sensual – careful. As you glanced up at him, your heart cracked a little more again, your eyes welling up and burning with tears.
“Hey, what is that? Why are you crying?” Russell worriedly checked on you like you were a kid with a fever, his thumb catching a salty teardrop that had escaped.
“It’s the eye drops,” you replied lightheartedly in a last ditch effort to hide the all-consuming guilt in your stomach.
Russell sent you a kind smile, stroking your cheek. “I don’t think it’s the eye drops, sweetheart…”
“I’m so sorry, Russ. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I thought I was helping you…”
“I know. I know…” he soothed and opened his arms. “C’mere.” As you fell into his embrace, he kissed your crown repeatedly, his arms holding you just as tightly as you held onto him. One palm patted the back of your head, the other rubbing your back in soothing circles. “I know you did, okay? And I know why you left. It did help, you know? To get my own head outta my ass… Just one of those things, I guess. Didn’t know I needed to hit rock bottom first before realizing what I’d lost. I’m only sorry I didn’t get my shit together sooner.”
Swallowing, with an ear on his chest, you listened to his heartbeat for a moment – steady, strong, safe. There wasn’t one single person in this world that could give you what Russell always could – comfort. It was what you wanted the most, what you needed during your worst times, and what you goddamn craved, always.
“You know, when you didn’t come back after a year, I was scared you finally found what you’re looking for, and it wasn’t me,” you admitted quietly, swallowing.
Before Russell, you barely ever shared your true feelings and thoughts with anyone, not even family and friends. Your heart, mind, and soul stayed hidden like your personality, your identity, and everything else that made you you. But Russell had always seen beyond the walls, the masks, and the aliases.
He drew back slightly, the hand that tangled in your hair lifting your head till you met his eyes and their loving crinkles. “Never gonna happen,” he assured you with nothing but honesty in his gaze. “You’re it, baby. You know I’m a one-and-only kinda guy,” he quipped, flashing you his signature grin. “You’re everything I ever wanted, sweetheart. The only family I ever had, really. I should’ve told you that sooner. Maybe you wouldn’t have left then.”
“This is soon enough,” you said and pecked his lips. “Why didn’t you tell Colter about me? Or the fact that he’s an uncle?”
With a sigh, Russell grabbed the brown paper bags, the ice cream in it surely melted by now, and settled down on the raw concrete floor, leaning his back against the rumbling washing machine. “Well, if we’re gonna talk, we might as well do it old school. Sit down. Eat,” he ordered you.
Taking a seat next to him, you grabbed a container of room-temperature rocky road and opened it. “Whoa, that is soup, yep!” you exclaimed with a laugh.
“Eh, it’s better when it’s melted anyway,” Russell remarked.
“So true…”
“Hand me the Doritos.”
“Yup.”
Quietly, you and Russell then created your dish like the two of you were parodies of Gordon Ramsey on the comedy channel, and only after savoring that first bite of rocky road cream soup with Nacho Cheese Dorito sprinkles (the croutons to your meal if you will), did you stray back to topic.
“So?”
“Right, uhm…” Russell scratched the back of his neck.
You snorted in amusement. “You always do this, you know.” He raised his brow, giving you a sideways look. “You change the subject and distract me in that cutesy way of yours.”
“I don’t think I’m cutesy.”
“You were twenty years ago,” you countered with a fond smile and took a crunchy, spicy spoonful of your soup. “I still see you that way sometimes, you know?”
“God, I hope not,” he groaned, chuckling. “That’s just horrifying.”
“You weren’t so bad. Pretty sweet, actually.” You shrugged, the hint of a smile tugging at your lips. Russell had always been the lost little duckling that had imprinted on you.
He smirked, but his cheeks betrayed him by turning sweetly red. “Yeah, that’s how I lured you in.”
“I don’t think you did much luring, big guy…” you retorted. “You had zero game.”
“What?!”
“Oh, c’mon, Russ… This can’t come as a surprise to you,” you said, giggling.
“Fine,” he caved with a roll of his eyes and chuckled lightly. He scratched the scruff on his throat. “Guess I was a little nervous that night. You were really intimidating.”
You snorted a laugh. “I know.”
“‘M glad you made the first move, though.”
“I made all the moves,” you corrected teasingly. Your gaze then fell pensively to your lap, where your fingers nervously fumbled. Your heart jolted once, like the jump start of a car. “So, uhm, you know… were you making any moves on other people?”
“People?”
“Women,” you clarified and pursed your lips. You didn’t look at him. You knew he would probably find your discomfort amusing.
“Ah.” Russell smacked his lips, trying his hardest not to grin. Then he looked at you – brow raised in an almost scolding manner, but his lips curved upwards and gave his act away, dimples barely hidden by the beard. He held that gaze till you finally met his green eyes. “Have you not been listening to me before? I told you – there’s only you, sweetheart.”
Your brows drew into a frown. “Don’t sweetheart me. It’s been three years, Russ.”
“So?” He twitched his broad shoulders. “You know that’s not a problem.”
“Well, that was before…”
Russell snorted loudly. The crinkles around his eyes doubled as he rubbed the tears out of them. “What, you think sleeping with you has suddenly awoken the dragon?”
“You don’t have to make it sound so ridiculous,” you muttered.
Russell licked his lips, nodding. “Well, news flash – you’re the only treasure for this dragon, baby.”
You stifled a gasp. “I said less ridiculous!”
His grin only broadened, but then he apparently decided to let you off the hook. “Look, in the past three years, has there been opportunity and maybe a little flirting? Sure. But nothing ever came of any of it. Twice, I came scarily close to kissing someone, but I bolted. Wanna know why?”
“Yes? I think…” you replied hesitantly, causing that infuriating smile of his to rise again.
“‘Cause all of it felt like cheating on my wife. So, are we done with this now?”
Defiantly, you shrugged him a nod, but your heart pumped warm, fuzzy happiness into your veins before Russell’s next question made them freeze again.
“Bigger question is, did you kiss a few toads? Or, you know, did some quacking?”
Your lips rose till dimples formed and your cheeks started to hurt. “Please let me be there when you give the kids the sex talk…”
“Okay, don’t even try to change the subject now,” he chided playfully. “I just meant out of the two of us…”
He choked on his words when you narrowed your eyes to a small glare.
“Out of the two of us what, Russell? Please finish that sentence.” Your voice rang with challenge.
“Nothing.” Sheepishly, he scratched the nape of his neck again. “I just meant that, you know, you’re the one who has more, uh… experience in that area.” When your glare morphed into daggers, he swallowed thickly and corrected course, clearing his throat. “Which, you know, I’m real happy about because God knows I’ve profited greatly off of it.”
“Are you slut-shaming me right now?”
“Nope, mm-mm. No, ma’am.” Russell’s lips pressed into a thin line. Then he muttered under his breath, “Not like you’ve sent more soldiers off to war than Bush… Ow!”
Russell rubbed the burning spot on his chest where you had punched him.
“That one hurt this time…” he groaned.
“Good.” The daggers in your eyes blunted back to a frown. You let out a sigh. “You’re an idiot. Please move on.”
“Yes, ma’am.” With curled lips, Russell bobbed his head. “So?”
Musingly, you then rolled your eyes to the ceiling, your head falling back as your tongue darted out between your lips. “Alright, let’s see… In the last three years, I’ve slept with one, two…” you muttered and then mouthed till #4, beginning to count on your fingers.
“Oh, stop it! You think you’re real funny, young lady, huh?” Russell huffed.
When you saw his exasperated expression, you bursted into laughter, the sound echoing off the bare concrete walls.
“C’mon, I had to,” you choked out your excuse between belly-crippling laughs and hysterical snorts. “I’m a single mom of two small children. I’m thankful if I get five minutes in the shower alone.”
Russell laughed a little too, but his heart flooded with relief. The thought of you with someone else had gnawed on him for some time, sharp little bites that pricked his soul. He didn’t know what he would’ve done if it were true – well, aside from dissecting amphibians.
“Almost gave me a heart attack, sweetheart,” Russell chuckled. “Can’t do this to me anymore. That was a young man’s game…”
Instead of uttering an apology, you captured his lips, kissing him till his head spun even more. His breathing quickened, his heart clinging to every last bit of oxygen when your tongue slipped past his lips. His hands tugged on your hips only all too eagerly until he had pulled you into his lap. Your legs straddled his muscular thighs, your clothed cunt rubbing against the growing erection in his jeans. Your underwear soaked at the thought of him splitting you open.
“Make me cum,” you sighed into his ear, nibbling on his lobe. “Want you inside of me again.”
“You’re killing me here,” he groaned as you kissed your way down his throat, teeth grazing over his skin. His fingers twitched with an itch to crawl up your thighs, push any obstruction to the side, and plunge right into your surely wet and waiting channel.
“Good,” you smirked, rocking your hips harder against his bulge.
“Sweetheart, I’d love to, but you’re not exactly quiet.” He chuckled against your lips. “We’d have to blast some death metal on the highest volume for the neighbors not to hear. Doubt they ever heard those sounds coming outta this house.”
With a frustrated huff, you relented breathlessly and slid from his warm lap back to the cold, empty space next to him, cursing the bad timing.
“First time I stitched you up was pretty memorable,” Russell noted after a labored minute, a tiny smirk tugging on his lips.
Your cheeks blushed, your chest still heaving with panting excitement, but you matched his mischievous smile with your usual cocky attitude. “Bet it was. I looked hot in that towel.”
“Yeah, you did. Had a pretty massive boner the whole time. Was surprised you never noticed,” Russell said.
You grinned. “Who says I didn’t?”
“Oh, I know you didn’t, or you would’ve jumped me right there in that bathroom,” Russell teased.
Gasping, you slapped his arm. “I did not jump you!”
“You kinda did.” Russell only laughed harder, with that same boyish grin he always carried when he was happy. “All you wanted was to pull my pants down and hop on for a quick fix.”
“Really? Are you done now?” you playfully scolded him. “And excuse me for wrongly assuming a soldier who’d been stuck in the desert for months with a bunch of other dudes might want sex if the opportunity arises.”
Russell’s boisterous smirk only grew wider. “You wanted me. You had it bad.”
The heat in your face was burning, your tongue poking the insides of your cheeks. “Alright, I don’t think you need an ego boost, Shaw.”
“Still think I’m handsome?” he asked you with a nudge of his elbow.
Pursing your lips, you musingly narrowed your eyes at him, assessing him in jest. “I don’t know. You are a little more rugged these days. The beard’s definitely a midlife crisis.”
Amused, Russell quirked an eyebrow. “Midlife crisis?”
“Yeah, what’s next? Buying a ridiculous car and brewing beer in your basement?”
“Actually, I brew it in the trunk of the ridiculous car.”
Your brows drew together. “Shit. Really?”
Russell laughed loudly, throwing his head back. “Yeah, really.” He then a hauled a bottle of unlabeled beer from the bag, handing it to you. “Taste it. It’s good.”
“If it tastes anything like that schnapps you made in that Guatemalan prison, then no thank you,” you retorted, uncapping the bottle and taking a sniff.
“I promise this wasn’t made in a designated pee bucket, alright?” Russell laughed. “Just drink it. Tell me what you think.”
“Alright, here goes nothing,” you mumbled and took a hesitant, quick sip. Then you took another longer one, squishing the liquid around in your mouth. Your brow raised. “Huh. Not bad,” you remarked, watching Russell’s grin widen. “Why do I taste marshmallows?”
Russell then fully beamed at you. “Knew you’d get it. Took me a while to perfect it. Wasn’t easy, you know? The secret is only adding one of those little Lucky Charms marshmallows. First try, I used the whole pack. God, that was gross.”
“That’s actually pretty genius,” you said with an impressed smile.
“Well, if it is, I kinda owe it to you. You were the OG food genius.”
Smiling, you leaned back against the washing machine with a small sigh, your head dropping to his broad shoulder as you snuggled up against him. He opened his arm and pulled you closer as you nursed your sweet-tasting beer. Russell placed another kiss on your temple, calloused fingers gently caressing your skin.
“When did this job get so hard?”
“Wasn’t it always kinda hard?” Russell answered your rhetorical question, mumbling half his answer into your hair.
“Guess so. Didn’t always feel that way, did it?”
“No, we had some pretty good times,” Russell said with a warm smile and pecked your crown once more.
“You think we’re bad people?”
Russell’s absentminded gaze dropped to you then, now fully focused. “What’s bringing this on, hm?”
You only shrugged in his embrace.
“Alright, I’ll play,” Russell said and then hummed. “Well, we’re not the best people…”
“I was hoping for a little more reassurance,” you said with a playful huff.
Russell chuckled softly. “Look, we always did what we thought was right. And we’ve seen real bad… evil. I don’t think we fall into that category, sweetheart.”
You nodded against his chest. “I guess so…”
Part 4: This Is Not an Exit – JANUARY 31
One of the things I loved writing most about this series were the deep conversations between all characters, but especially this one in the basement. Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did before we break some, uhm, news to Colter next week 😉

Chick Habit | Megumi Fushiguro
13: 7 Words
Words: 1.5 k
Mainlist
I think you shouldn't have glorified, now you're wrong
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Oh boy...
A part of megumi still refused to accept that he had screwed up, he kept wanting to think that it was your fault, that you were no victim and that you definitely deserved everything he had done but deep down he knew that he had been a fucking idiot, that he had taken things too far and that he had been doing for years the same thing that your former friends did to Tsumiki.
Megumi Fushiguro never regretted it, but maybe and only maybe at this moment he was doing it.
The more days went by the more frustrated he became and maybe, and just maybe, he was wondering what would have happened if he had figured out the reality of things before spreading all that shit about you, what would have happened if that first day of school he had responded to your cheerful greeting with a simple "Hi." You weren't the only one who had been wanting to do things differently.
"Did they hide what happened with that girl? It was horrible." Tsumiki brought up the subject in the middle of dinner, she only knew the story halfway and did not know that her beloved brother had been responsible. "poor girl, Mrs. Linwood told me she was a good girl, with all this she must not be having a good time."
"Why don't you shut up, Tsumiki?" Megumi was rude all the time to everyone, but he rarely had that attitude with Tsumiki.
"Megumi." Satoru scolded him.
"And shut up too, you have no idea what happened, stop acting like you care." Satoru leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms over his chest, watched Megumi for a moment, he had known him long enough to know that something is wrong.
"That girl, Yn Yl I think, she was in your class wasn't she? Maybe you can explain to us better what happened." Megumi hated talking to Satoru because he always felt like he knew everything, most of the time it was difficult to keep Satoru's secrets hidden. Megumi got up from the table and left the house slamming the door behind him.
They didn't know shit, no one did, you were just a fucking crybaby and he could have been so much worse. But God, he couldn't get you out of his head.
Although for a long time he saw you as the "enemy", the time he spent with you, those times when he wasn't being a bitch with you, he had really enjoyed your company.
Because that smile that he had tried so hard to convince himself that he hated was actually the most beautiful he had ever seen, In fact, you were the prettiest thing he had ever seen.
You were pretty, funny, intelligent, you were full of good qualities, you were like a dream but he had broken you and there was no turning back.
If he had to count how many times he had dreamed of you, the fingers of his two hands would not be enough. And it would be a lie to deny that his mind was repeating the two kisses he had given you over and over again because he loved remembering the feeling of his lips on yours. You were soft and sweet, the complete opposite of him.
Lately he had wondered a lot if he hated you or if he was just completely and deeply obsessed with you.
Yuji hadn't approached him since the Halloween party and Megumi really missed him but his pride prevented him from trying to talk to his best friend, Yuji missed him too but he was still angry about everything Megumi had done.
He was walking aimlessly, he was just trying to clear his head and forget about the small conversation he just had at home, he cursed that he didn't bring anything with him to help relax him.
The air was cold and his sweater wasn't helping to keep him warm But he refused to go home, he didn't want Satoru to question him again because he knew that he would sooner or later get into the truth.
That day he did not return until midnight and when he opened the door Satoru was on the sofa waiting for him.
"Where were you?"
"Don't start."
"Sometimes you forget who is in charge in this house." Satoru didn't seem to be playing at this time, even if his attitude was almost always playful and teasing, he looked Upset now.
"You're not my fucking dad Satoru." Megumi immediately cursed himself for saying that, but it was too late and he could only keep his defiant attitude as much as possible.
"I know." Tension filled the room, Satoru paused for a long time before continuing. "I know I'm not." Satoru preferred to keep his words to himself, he knew that anything he had to talk to him would be useless at this moment. "Go to your bedroom, it doesn't matter anymore."
That night was no different from the others where sleeping was almost impossible, now he was not only thinking about you and Yuji but he was also thinking about how he had been an ungrateful son of a bitch with the only two people who had taken care of him, Tsumiki and Satoru were his only family and yet he treated them like shit every time he was angry.
Sometimes he questioned why he was like that, what was wrong with him, to say that he hated himself would be too kind For what he really felt.
He was a cruel bastard too proud to admit his mistakes out loud, a motherfucker who every time he felt someone too close showed his worst side to puch them away.
The next morning he go downstairs to the kitchen And it probably wouldn't have been much different from any other day if it weren't for the very strange but recognizable figure that was on the couch between Satoru and Tsumiki.
Toji Fushiguro was like a blurry memory in megumi's mind, Although his voice was more than present in his mind because of all the calls he had received over the years, the way he looked was distorted among his memories.
He was strangely similar to him, Satoru had always told Megumi that he looked like his mother but he was also so similar to Toji that his stomach churned to, he didn't want to look like that man.
"Megumi." Satoru looked tense, in reality none of the three of them seemed too comfortable with the situation. "Sit down."
"What is he doing here?" but Megumi didn't try to hide his displeasure.
"Just Please Megumi." Satoru wanted to make things easier and although he knew that talking to Megumi would be useless, he tried to make him come to his senses.
"No. What is he doing here?"
Toji sighed and got up from the sofa, his expression far from the violent and strong face that Megumi remembered but still she was not going to trust him easily.
"I came to get my family back."
"You don't have any family here."
"Megumi." Satoru called out him.
"No, He's only here because he's old and finished, he doesn't give a fuck about his family, he doesn't give a fuck about changing."
"Just listen to him, Megumi."
"Shut up Tsumiki. Shut up, you three."
Megumi didn't go back to home that day, he didn't answer any calls, he hated Toji, he hated Satoru for accepting him into his house, and he hated Tsumiki for accepting back his father.
He felt stressed, tired and angry, he was fed up with everyone and couldn't leave his room because his fucking father was in the living room and didn't want to see him. After thinking about it a lot, he sent you a text message, he wanted to talk to you, he missed spending the afternoons in your bedroom.
You never responded, you didn't even receive the message, you had blocked Megumi's Contact.
Megumi was eating his breakfast when Toji arrived at the kitchen and patted Megumi on the shoulder.
"Are you going to talk to me, kid?"
"Never. touch. me. again." He got up from his chair with the intention of going back to his room but his father stopped him.
"Megumi, I really want to talk to you."
"But I don't want to. Look, I don't care about you, I don't want you in my life and you're never going to be my father. I lived without you up to this point and I prefer to continue doing so." Toji had never been present in his life, he didn't need him and he didn't care if this time he would change, he wasn't her father and never would be. "I don't care what shitty story you tell me this time, but I don't want you to try to talk to me."

I've a request for Percy Jackson as punishment for you deleting your drafts, something where Percy does little things for the reader? For example, drying her hair after she gets out of the shower, putting food on her plate, small and simple things, but things very cute😊↕️🤍

🔱🌊🔱🌊🔱🌊🔱🌊🔱🌊🔱🌊🔱🌊🔱🌊🔱🌊🔱🌊🔱🌊
lunch time.
who would’ve thought that getting hundreds of hungry teenagers with powers in one place is a good idea?
either way, it is what it is and you’re not planning on starving. but fate has other plans for you, like having the scary ares kids standing in front of your favourite food, blocking your path.
and that’s how you ended up sitting in a corner table with percy, your plate only carrying a few pieces of veggies with a side of capri sun.
“why don’t you have anything on your plate, angel?” he asked, his brows furrowing in confusion as he saw how little food you had on your plate. “uhh, ‘m not really hungry.” you mumbled, tossing one of the veggie pieces around your plate with your fork.
percy tilted his head, his lips curling into a playful smirk. “not hungry? I thought I saw you eating an entire pizza two days ago, no problem. what happened to that appetite of yours?”
you shrugged, poking at the broccoli. “I guess today’s just one of those days.”
he leaned closer, his voice dropping to a teasing whisper, “are you sure it’s not because you’re avoiding the ares kids? I mean, you did seem pretty eager to steer clear of them.”
you snorted. “it’s not that bad, percy. they’re just… uh, intimidating. doesn’t help that they think they’re better than everyone else.” you took a sip of your capri sun, trying to act casual.
percy raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced. “right. I’m gonna go get you something, angel.” he said, getting up before you can even react, leaving you sitting there, your face dumbfounded.
after he few minutes, he came back with a plate full of pasta with the white sauce, and yet another capri sun. just like he had promised.
——————
after the long day of activities, you finally made your way back to your cabin, completely drained. after a quick shower, you wrapped yourself in your towel and stepped out, only to see percy waiting in the hallway, leaning casually against the wall.
“you okay?” he asked, raising an eyebrow when he noticed your wet hair. “need a hand with that, princess?”
you rolled your eyes, but smiled. “really? you’re gonna stand there like you’re some kind of hair stylist?”
“well, I mean, I have a lot of experience handling water,” he said, gesturing toward himself. “being the son of poseidon and all. so, yeah. I think I can help.”
you raised an eyebrow. “are you seriously gonna dry my hair for me?”
percy gave a dramatic sigh, as if you were making him perform some kind of great sacrifice. “I mean, I guess I have no choice now.” he paused. “unless you want to go to bed with wet hair. then I’ll leave you to your doom.”
you giggled, rolling your eyes again, but agreed. “fine. do your worst, seaweed brain.”
a few minutes later, you were sitting on your bed while percy wielded a hairdryer like he was in the middle of some grand mission. he was being unreasonably serious about it, and it took everything in you not to laugh at his overly focused expression.
“you know, percy,” you said in an exaggerated voice, “I feel like I’m in the presence of greatness right now.”
“you should,” he said without missing a beat. “I’m literally the best at this. I should add ‘professional hairdryer wielder’ to my resume.”
you couldn’t help it anymore, bursting into laughter. “you’re ridiculous.”
he grinned, proud of himself. “and don’t you forget it. all in a day’s work, saving the world and drying your hair. I’m a multitasker.”
when he finally finished, he gave a small bow, proud of his work. “there you go. all set, angel.”
you looked at your reflection in the mirror, surprised at how good your hair looked—no frizz, no mess. percy had somehow managed to do a better job than you could’ve hoped. “wow, you’re actually good at this.”
“told you,” he said, giving you a playful wink.
——————
you were heading to mr. d’s office to complain about something when you spotted percy walking towards you, looking way too smug for his own good.
“what?” you asked, raising an eyebrow.
he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small bundle wrapped in twine. “I made something for you.”
you took it from him, unwrapping it carefully. inside was a tiny wooden necklace, the pendant shaped like a trident with delicate waves etched into the surface. it was small but thoughtful, and your heart skipped a beat.
“percy, you actually made this?” you asked, your voice soft.
“yep. I thought it might be… kind of cool? and, you know, I’m getting pretty good with a knife.” he scratched the back of his neck, his usual cocky grin replaced by a slight blush. “I know it’s not the best thing in the world, but… I thought you might like it.”
you were completely speechless for a moment, your heart swelling. “percy, it’s perfect. I love it.” you carefully slid the necklace around your neck, admiring it for a moment. “thank you.”
“well, you know… anything for you,” he said, his voice softening, and for a second, he looked so uncharacteristically sincere that it made your heart flutter. “I’d do anything to make you smile.”
“you already do,” you whispered, leaning up to kiss his cheek. “yeah, angel? I do?” he said with a smirk, making you him and nod.
“well, what else can I do to make you smile, m’lady?” he teased, putting one of his hands behind his back as he held your hand in his other, bowing down jokingly as he gave you a kiss on the back of your hand, just over your knuckles.
“mmhh.. get me a capri sun.”
————————————————————————————
a/n : hi hello I am currently craving capri sun but unfortunately it costs 0.5$ and I do NOT have that kind of money to spend in the school cafeteria💔

Exile: A Nosferatu Fanfic
Chapter 4
You were my town, now I'm in exile seeing you out…
For the first time ever in either of his lifetimes, Count Orlok was out in the snow, rolling a middle snowball to make the body of the snowman. He looked, and honestly felt just as, ridiculous. The wolfhounds helped when they could, but spent the time either watching the pair or chasing each other around the courtyard. Ellen looked over at him and chuckled.
“Not a word, Ellen…” he growled a little.
She couldn’t stifle a laugh. “Oh for goodness sake, you act like I’m doing something tortuous to you…It’s supposed to be fun and you look so…annoyed”.
“This is ridiculous…” the count rolled his eyes, “Is this big enough?”
Ellen came over and examined the ball he was rolling. “I think so. We could probably mold-Oh goodness you can’t be serious”.
He had already used magic to mold the middle ball on to the first, fitting it quite easily. Orlok raised a brow at her disapproval. “What? I literally just-”.
“Magic isn’t the solution to everything” Ellen argued.
Orlok scoffed. “It is in my world…”.
“Yes, and look how well that worked out for you”.
The count narrowed his eyes at her at that. “Watch yourself, micul suflet”.
Ellen shook her head. “You just wanted an easy way out of this, didn’t you?”
“Maybe. Your words not mine”.
“Are you really that miserable doing this? It’s just a snowman” she looked at him, feeling a bit disappointed.
“Why is this so upsetting to you?” he cocked his head, genuinely confused as to why she wasn’t happy with him using magic.
“It just…defeats the purpose I guess. I just wanted to…spend an afternoon making a snowman or two” Ellen sighed.
Her explanation did little to ease the count’s confusion. She had never been against him using magic for simple little things before. This seemed like such a trivial thing to be upset over. He rolled his eyes and scoffed.
“You’re being ridiculous, little one. You’ve taken issue with me using it before”.
“That was for…other reasons” she shuddered as a few memories came to mind…
“Less ridiculous than snow people”.
Ellen sighed. “I just wanted one, ONE peaceful afternoon…Everything just has to be a fight with you and I don’t understand why. And it’s not just now. You’ve always been so…confrontational. About everything. Even if you didn’t have a right to be-”.
A growl cut her off. His of course. “You forget, little one. You have always been mine. Always! That was our agreement! I had every right to be furious knowing you went off and married that useless, childish-”.
“Because you abandoned me! You left me first! You stopped coming when I’d call for you!” Ellen’s voice was more emotional than she intended it to be.
She never wanted to admit it, even to herself, that she had missed him. That something in her felt genuinely broken when he stopped coming to her. Ellen despised that she felt that way, that it was the Demon that made her feel that way. She felt her eyes water, from both anger and sadness. How could he still be so cruel, after what they went through together? After what she did for him? After all they were to each other…
Orlok didn’t respond, just glared down at her. His dark eyes were alight with an all too familiar fury. He didn’t know why he felt so angry once more. It was always anger that got the better of him. Like his shadow haunted those he preyed upon, his rage haunted him. It always had…
“I had my reasons…” he turned away from her.
“And what reasons were those? What did I do that was so wrong-”.
“IT WASN’T YOU!” Orlok roared and shot his long clawed hand out, melting the half done snowman.
Ellen sobbed and looked down. Just one peaceful afternoon was all she wanted. Nothing else. He didn’t need to join her. He could’ve just left her and Furie alone.
“Must you destroy everything you touch?” Ellen sniffed.
He didn’t answer right away. “It is my nature to do so. In the end…I even destroyed you”.
Ellen shook her head. “I chose…I chose you”.
“And perhaps you chose wrong” He shook his head and looked over at the wolfhounds, “Întristare, Durere, Furie! Vino!”
The first two obeyed their master's command but Furie, sweet loveable Furie, padded over to Ellen and stayed at her side. He growled deeply at Orlok, who raised a brow.
“Furie! Acum!” He commanded but the wolfhound growled and barked.
He would not move. He would not leave her out here alone. Ellen's eyes watered a little more as she looked at the sweet, protective hound. He was indeed very poorly named. She hugged him around his neck tightly.
“Thank you, sweet one. Thank you-” she started.
“Treacherous dog!” Orlok snarled but Ellen glared.
“Leave him alone! It's me you're angry with, not him! Do as you must but I will not let you harm these dogs!”
The count turned away and stormed back inside in a fury. He knew he let his anger again get the better of him. There wasn't an excuse for it but pride would not allow him to admit he was the one in the wrong.
Ellen hugged Furie around his soft, warm, fluffy neck, crying softly. What in the world did she ever do to deserve this? Any of this? In the beginning all she had wanted was a friend, a companion. But now she was in, what she thought anyway, was a literal frozen hell with a monster she abhorred and who, seemingly, abhorred her. They were stuck together, all because of a covenant that shouldn’t have meant anything anymore. Ellen pulled away from Furie to pet his head.
“Good boy…you’re such a good boy. Thank you” she told him, managing a soft smile despite what just happened.
Furie wagged his tail, whined and licked her hand softly. Ellen sniffed and looked over at the spot where the destroyed snowman was.
“We may have to make another at some point…It’ll be okay. Let’s just…stay out here a little while. I don’t want to go back in while he’s angry like that. It scares me and I don’t want you getting hurt either” Ellen stood, brushing the snow off her dress, “Perhaps you can show me around. There’s still so much to see here”.
Furie barked and wagged his tail once more, eager to show her around. There was still much she needed to see, to know. This was her home too. It was always meant to be her home…
Orlok lost count of how many times he burned that damn bouquet at this point, but it was far from enough to satiate his fury. Why was it always anger? Why was it always this deep maw of anger that consumed what was left of his heart, what little was left? His clawed hands trembled when he looked at them, anger slowly giving away to a sad numbness. He had no more tears to shed, no more hurt to feel.
So why did his anger persist? Of all things, of all emotions…
Death was supposed to be peaceful. It was supposed to be eternal rest. But why was it only giving him more anger, more sadness, more…grief than anything else? This wasn’t at all what he had hoped for. He didn’t want to be this anymore. He didn’t need blood anymore. The sun no longer harmed him. But yet a loathsome beast he still remained…
Durere came back to the master’s chamber holding something in his jaws, softly so as not to damage it. It was a little soft stuffed bear, handmade a very, very long time ago. Age had seen its fur taken off, leaving behind just a dusty skin. But even so, the wolfhound knew it meant something to his master. He whined, placing the small thing at his master’s feet.
The count peered down at the small, seemingly insignificant thing. A little toy, nothing more. And yet…
He picked it up in his clawed hand and looked at it for a moment, his mind daring to go back to a once happier time. He could hear her voice again, instructing him on how to make it. Orlok remembered having needle pricks for weeks after making so many…And he had done it without magic at her insistence.
But it was the reason they had made such small things that made that small piece of his heart ache in a way that was all too familiar. Orlok clenched his fist around the tiny bear and pressed it to his chest, sorrow threatening to drown him like the very waters of Chaos he sought to avoid...
No.
No!
He was not entitled to mourn, entitled to grief. He didn’t deserve to. Didn’t deserve to heal. Didn’t deserve to move on. He hadn’t earned the right to let go…and from the looks of things he never would…
Still though, he couldn’t hold back the slightest little sob, though no tears fell from his moonlit eyes. He was a monster and monsters didn’t cry.
Monsters did not love.
If you guys enjoyed please consider reblogging, liking, commenting, and following! You guys are awesome and you mean the world to me! Love yall and I'll see you in the next chapter! ^-^

Thanks a ton to all you amazing anons! I didn't think anyone would care enough to even read it. It was a spur-of-the-moment post, but big shoutout to Vinny for dubbing my ask as the manifesto—it definitely gave my ego a nice boost!
i am here to drop the content for those who asked for links, i apologise if i took too much time to reply back—I had to sift through my old FOAH playlist to do this properly and not like my earlier post.
SORRY FOR LONG ASS POST AGAIN . I KNOW I AM TOO MUCH! ( my apologies)
____________________________________________________________
LIP SYNC BATTLE:
https://youtu.be/CC_vymKA5zA?si=80NHAn6njvGu0Uya
My absolute favorite! At 1:10, finn kicks things off by mentioning his number 1—yep, you guessed it, NOAH. Then you have to see how he murders Gaten! It’s hilarious! Finn's humor is pure gold.
https://youtu.be/116daD8QFIo?si=bhtjuR3SWtSOe0ji
1:00 (famous foah moment) Finn literally walked all the way over to Noah in the middle of his performance! touches Noah with his butt and leaves with a little smile. I miss the old Finn!!! but he still yapps about Noah like a crazy person. still scores a win.
____________________________________________________________
MYSPACE: https://youtu.be/VnKJdvo3Yak?si=4jSpW9nJcQwhABc4
(so why am I suggesting that Finn's top 3 spots are his parents (with Noah taking the 4th position) (i was shocked when he said noah is his 4th) , for few reasons:
the interviewer himself specified: after your family , who would you pick from the cast?
MAYA said she would take out her dad from the list to make room for gaten.
TOP 8 (naturally) parents -> siblings -> boyfriend/girlfreind -> cast mates
sadie picked Noah & millie. Noah's actual BFFs are sadie and millie. not finn. finn is more like his_____you know. so finn wasn't even expecting noah to say his name, noah is his 4th and assumed that he is noah's 4th. which btw noah proved this year.....Noah crowned finn with 4th position in his wrap post for this particular reason.
So, why am I laying out these reasons? A lot of you might be tempted to jump straight to 2:45, which is fine, but if you do, you’ll miss out on why FOAH is probably the real deal.
____________________________________________________________
SAG AWARDS: https://youtu.be/xKZQXsbe6yI?si=k8QTKsDubexYm9pG
this is my reading, there may be some errors but overall this is the whole picture:
1:18 finn's gesture; give noah the damn mic millie
1:58 finn is asking millie "do you mind if i stand next to noah?" and millie says no.
4:48 finn was so smitten/impressed by noah's speech that he says this to millie "that was awesome"
its there....Finn's heart used to race for Noah. That was his little secret. not so much among the ST cast. pretty much every one knew. i dont even think it is a secret that he definitely fell for Noah first.
_____________________________________________________________
NOAH's FIRST KISS:
I think Noah's first kiss was with Finn. There was a hint of romantic tension between them right from s1. Finn never did kissing rehersal with millie (Jimmy Fallon show).
Finn would subtly flirt with Noah during their lives, and you could see Millie grinning at it ! https://youtu.be/hbkzKGS6aIg?si=49ZWrTDAbXN795v_
https://youtu.be/S8dvjHDitMI?si=sP_CbONnYrlT-R3Y (snooze you loose: hard core flirting)
Noah's tiktok: he made a famous tiktok back in the day "googling how to kiss when you are 12" something like that : ST s2 filming time period. finn had a crush(clearly) and he could've made a move in s2. noah came prepared. mutual crush. two queer kids clicked. bam.
https://youtu.be/MpgxM0xZl1w?si=97mwvTZn2qKlo27y
Noah's Netflix live reaction video, when mike kisses eleven. I really wish Noah would make more videos like this! His commentary is just hilarious. If you have a chance, you definitely need to watch the whole video—Noah is the best, and his humor is on point! “EL IS SO SLOW, JUST KISS HIM, LMAO!”
bAcK tO ThE YoUtUbE vIdEo (in noah's voice) 28:36 watch Noah YAAS my prince ;)
interchanging of names: (famous tiktok analogy) https://youtu.be/owI3eiS_4uY?si=VrFPsDp1-msyJ2Rj
___________________________________________________________
honorable mentions: finn not letting go of noah
https://youtu.be/CFhbD61Vg6k?si=fCh6X57-xR9sGBoz
https://youtu.be/H7xZpQpEkHc?si=81fc9wCaUTS9IQFm
https://youtu.be/hagzu_h9T5E?si=iSNIuDnVWgclAwjq
Finn's eyes searching for Noah. He seems a bit disoriented throughout the video, but then a lady suddenly pushes Noah, and Finn gets really emotional? *Editing cut cut* 1:11. You can catch 1:05 watch caleb (wiping nose instruction). And if you look closely, Noah’s eyes show he’s feeling it too. Caleb and Gaten, in their supportive era!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Only read this if you think I'm full of crap*
I used to have a ton of FOAH analysis videos, but guess what? A lot of them have been taken down/hidden—looks like PR is keeping an eye on things! This is especially true for the award show ones. channels like MTV and ET, their videos are heavily edited now, which wasn't the case before. ‘ET’ (Canada, especially cough) went wild with editing the FOAH videos! Particularly those where Finn and Noah sat next to each other; those are basically all gone now.
proof: you wont ever find this video. if someone does, please do share. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/18/1c/fe/181cfe842e5df3c17b894b4123cb6ae8.jpg
if you ask me which media house knows about foah and ships it : GQ and WIRED GOOGLE SEARCH (they are so cheeky) i wish i could tell you all about it. so look out for GQ & WIRED for s5 promo. they'll do something again. ET also ships but its editing scissors are insane.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
wish I could share more theories, but I can't dive into everything.
thanks for reading guys! i know this is all tooooooo much!
WOAH 🫨 Passing this along for anyone who wants to investigate and have some things to watch in the meantime, I'll circle back to this Sunday - too busy tonight and tomorrow to dedicate a block of time to watch a bunch of videos, but I literally just refreshed and saw this second manifesto!!! Thank you anon for the compilation and all the work you put into this ask! 🫶🫶🫶
Anyone have any additional favorite or recommended interviews or segments in general on youtube - hit me up! I'm gonna start my revisit/deep dive Sunday because its a kickback day for me 😁

I got the reunion ending. It's the most canon ending. Change my mind. You can't.
A part of me is sad because this is like an almost perfect ending you know? The only way it could get any better is if Mr Scarletella learns to play nice with the other ghosts.
If I can let my imagination run wild and speculate I'd say the content in this update is some of the last things Yatsunagi-sensei worked on before deciding to stop and that's why it wraps everything up in this seemingly nice little bow (esp since the placement of the reunion ending is smack in the middle of the last row). So tbh I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get any more new endings and chapters from here on out (though again, this is all just speculation and I would not mind new endings and more expansion on each LIs route). But even regardless if I'm right or wrong I really do think this is the best ending we're gonna get. Again, for the people in the back, this paragraph is just speculation I have no evidence to back up my claims.
Something I do (kind of) have evidence for is about how I actually think MC dies in this ending. Let me explain.
Spoilers under the moss on how to get the reunion ending.
It bothered me that to get the reunion ending you have to ignore Mr Chopped and leave Mr Crawling. MC wakes up back in the human world and 'dreams' about Mr Crawling waiting for her.
It's clear her heart misses that other world even if her mind doesn't remember. If you, the player, let her follow that nagging feeling, she wanders back into the ghost apartments and the floor collapses beneath her. She hits her head, gets up, and finds the elevator.
Now here's where it gets interesting because if you choose to not go in the elevator, you game over. If you choose to go in, you reunite with Mr Crawling and the other ghosts. The two scenarios have two things in common, MC will mention having a 'slight headache' and you'll hear a long beep. The only other time you hear a similar beep outside of those two scenarios is when you break Mr Scarletella's umbrella. It's the sound of a flatline.
A lot of things in the reunion ending seem to support my theory. After taking the elevator we see Mr Crawling, Mr Silvair, Mr Chopped, and The Bride.
In chapter 5 The Bride and Mr Chopped are scared of each other so why would they be in the same place at the same time? An argument can be made that because 'a long time has passed' maybe this isn't their first encounter and they've gotten over each other's differences.
The second thing is The Bride says she's going to look for new clothes for MC while their other encounters seem to imply the bride can produce clothes seemingly out of thin air because what are the chances she has two copies of the same dress and a raincoat that is tailored exactly to your measurements? Well because in this timeline, MC has only met The Bride once. She doesn't know that Ms Bride can just make clothes appear.
Third, the last scene before we fade to black is a floor that looks similar to the one MC fell through but we can see a pool of blood that seems to come from MCs direction. There's nobody around. The screen fades, MC says 'I'm home' and the credits roll. The credits this time shows scenes from chapters 1-3 instead of the names of the dev team. Feels a bit like all the memories MC forgot when she came back to the human world coming back to her eh?
So yea, conclusion? MC's dead. She probably died when the floor collapsed. She hit her head and that was it. Does that mean the reunion scene was a lie? Perhaps. But that's no fun, now is it? Instead I'd like to think of it as MC literally becoming a 'ghost' her soul was the one that found that elevator. That's why you game over if you choose not to go in, the soul simply returns to the body and goes to wherever you go after you die. The scene at the end was MC bidding one last farewell to her human body because she decided her home is with the residents of the ghost apartments, even if now she technically is a 'lost soul'. I think MC chooses to be happy here. She let's go of whatever resentment and hatred she was holding on to and that's why the voice of the 'raincoat' doesn't pop up once in the entire exchange.
It's fantastic writing to me because this entire ending is described almost perfectly in the part of the song that plays on the title screen. The first thing you'll hear when you open the game is this ending. It's the second verse of 'Gray Rain'.
It's happy, it's sad, it's such a perfect way to end the game and that's why I think this might be the last thing Yatsunagi-sensei left us.
#i do wish Mr Scarletella was a part of this ending#esp since he just disappears from the narrative in this ending#but it's way too easy to manually connect the scarlet rain ending to this ending#and I have fingers that can type and a brain that won't shut up#i have another analysis yapping about the 'your side' ending but you'll have to wait for it a bit longer#because I'm already working on a mr scarletella analysis and this just happened to steam roll its way up my priority list#homicipher#mr crawling#mr silvair#mr scarletella#mr chopped#homicipher bride#文字化化#regi yaps

Heart hammering against her chest, her body temperature feeling as though she was on fire. Anxiety filled her body after those three words had left her, fear that Regina would reject her and that their son would hate her for the way she had just so casually aired their relationship. Was it a relationship? They had never put a label on what they had going on.
Henry’s reaction was one she had not expected, mouth falling open in surprise as the kid spoke in a fastened speed. Wait, he knew?! Still in a shock silence, it took Emma a second to return the hug that was now forced into her middle. They really didn’t give the kid the credit he deserved, he was way too smart for a boy his age. “You aren’t mad?” She finally spoke, voice cracking as she looked down to the wide eyed Henry. “No way!” He exclaimed, squeezing his mom a little tighter. “All I ever wanted was for you guys to get along, so we could be a family!” The happiness in both his features and voice had Emma’s heart aching in the best way.
Scared to return her gaze to a silent Regina, she forced it as she tried to read the other’s demeanour. All she could read, was shock. Had Emma royally screwed this up? God, why couldn’t she for once learn to keep her mouth shut. The two were moving closer to her now, green hues locking on brown. Nervously biting on the inside of her cheek, if the floor were to open below her, Emma would for sure jump in.
And then a whisper came, Emma’s lips quivering as she tried to hold back the salt water tears that were now filling her eyes. Regina loved her. The gentle squeeze to her waist had grounded her, a smile etching on her features as a stray tear rolled down her cheek. A shaky hand reached out to place a gentle touch to Regina’s cheek, her heart feeling complete for the first time in her entire life. Stood here with the woman she loved and their son, it was her own fairytale come true. “I’ve never been this happy.” She admitted in a whisper, thumb brushing lightly against Regina’s cheek, unable to take her eyes off her. All her life all Emma Swan had known was pain, the feeling of rejection and feeling lost. Storybrooke had given her everything she didn’t ever believe that she deserved.
Regina's stomach erupted in butterflies at the mere thought of Emma being with them at breakfast every morning. She wanted to dance around the kitchen and show her joy, but she hadn't ever been one to over express her emotions. She had been taught that at an early age to have decorum. And that meant even more so when emotions were involved. Her lips twitched slightly before she felt the smile slip across her face.
The smile morphed from happiness to absolutely shock as the words that Emma had spoken registered finally in her ears. Her heart skipped a whole two beats before beating thunderously against her ribcage. She felt her legs start to turn to jello, and she was grateful to the counter being right behind her as she rested against it to keep herself upright.
Heny's eyes widened before the smile did exactly the same. "I knew it!" He jumped up, fisting pumping the air as he rain to Emma and hugged her. "Mary-Margaret didn't believe me when I told her that something was going on between you two, and Grandpa said I was crazy!" He moved from Emma to Regina and started to hug her. "Mom, Mom? Are you okay?"
It was only then that Regina realized that she hadn't spoken or hadn't even moved. Her eyes were locked on Emma. She blindly reached for Henry's hand, trying to find her voice as she also tried to regain control of her motor function. Her mouth was dry and the words refused to come. It was only when Henry helped to lead her to Emma that she found it deep inside her to whisper, "I love you, Emma. I love you. Very…"
She was stood right in front of her now. Eyes locked on hers as she reached for Emma's waist and gave it a gentle squeeze. "Very much." She looked from her to Henry then, giving his hand a squeeze.

okay lol mini rant in the tags sorry i just HAD to get this off my chest 😭 sorry if this is very incoherent and poorly worded or structured or whatever i'm just. pretty out of it and i cannot really think to write this properly. well, that or i am probably just illiterate actually. Yeah that's it lol
#why are friendships so complicated#in my last year of senior high school at an all girls school#i transferred last year#and it's just cliques left and right#they all hate each other#i'm the type of person who can vibe with all of them even if their personalities are very very different#i am kind of friends with everyone in the sense that i can find common ground and have interact comfortably and enjoyably#my friend group from grade 11 (theyve been friends w each other for so long and i was the newcomer) dissolved this year bc things went down#i dont know the full extent of what happened#but those five friends split and three have merged with another group#the group that isolate my other two friends and seem to not like them#at least the “leader” of the group anyway. Not so sure about the rest#and now i am stuck in the middle lol. I have other friends from other groups but they have their own groups#the three girls already have each other and the new group (it's kind of a mix of me excluding myself on purpose and them not including me#in things presumably bc i am still “close” with my other two friends they don't like#it is a weird dynamic because me and the other group the three other girls merged with can vibe with each other#we can laugh with each other and enjoy each others company when theyre not talking shit (they rarely do it in front of ppl so i havent rlly#seen the full extent of it)#and also my two other friends are obviously closer to each other than with me since theyve been friends for way longer#i remember i had a conversation with one of my friends from the three girls that split away#it was something like i have to tell the class this and that etc since im the president#and i am not a very assertive person i am also very scared of being disliked. I told her i didn't want the class to hate me and she said#“everybody likes you you are friends with everyone”#it really doesn't feel that way. why do i feel like secretly they are talking shit#again i dont even know why we split up#but now i am just. Stuck in the middle#the thing is ive never even heard my other three friends talk shit and do nasty stuff with the new group/the main clique of the class#i havent seen the bad side to anything that i hear whispers about because ive never seen it#i havent been subjected to it either#i feel like i am wrong about a lot of things but i am just. blind or too deep into my people pleasing tendencies to not realize shit

This has been gnawing at my brain since I first heard it
because
And the way Arthur says it is so honest, so serious, so earnest. He's exhausted but he makes sure to look at Merlin's right in the eye. Like this comes from the bottom of his soul and he absolutely, desperately needs Merlin to understand (and considering he most likely knew he was going to die at this point, well). Look at Merlin's face. There's such solemnity and vulnerability in this scene. It hurts to watch.
#trust me if i could have picked anyone but uther for this i would have#but alas i could remember no other wedding scene where they actually got to this line#arthur is so beautiful when he opens up about his love and affection#he has such a tender heart but grew up with so much on his shoulders and such a piece of garbage for a father#say what you want about bbc's merlin but they gave us top tier acting#also the contrast between the two scenes here pls#the first one you're looking at two clowns#there's nothing real about it even though it's a royal wedding#the second one is in the middle of nowhere with nothing but the forest as witness and it's spontaneous and honest and pure#and you know he means it with his whole being#and in the first scene catrina doesn't give a shit about uther's feelings she's just using him#meanwhile you can tell merlin's entire WORLD is being turned inside-out#and you know he'll never forget this#this means everything to him#now you may be asking yourself why i am comparing those two scenes they are unrelated#and the answer is#because i am unwell#bbc merlin#merlin emrys#bbc arthur#arthur pendragon#merthur

fancy tags are making me sad so as of rn, everything will be simpler. i just want to write and for some reason i always create smth that just's sucking the enjoyment with a biodegradable straw. until i find smth easier to tag that doesn't make the brain juice sad, i'll only tag the user.
#♱ vero stfu.#brain juice is now happy and thinking thoughts enough for me to respond to some stuff#also TRIGGER WARNING RANT AHEAD#irl i am always first to approach guys to talk about classes and whatnot#and today i was reminded why#the two girls i asked if the seat was taken said that it was (even though the seats ended up not occupied)#and there's this girl who has some health issues whom i offered to sit beside me since i was in front row#it's safe to say she walked away took a chair and stood like in the middle of the room#just so she wouldn't sit beside me#and whenever i try to talk to someone they look at me weird and dont say a word until i go away#at first i thought it was just inside my head the chronic anxiety and whatnot#but boy oh boy am i beginning to think i wasn't imagining things#a guy did sit with me and i could share my bad jokes so it wasn't exactly one of those days i dont say a word to anyone#but idk it just makes me second guess maybe smth is wrong with me#is this normal adult behavior im learning only after two decades???

i say this with utmost seriousness i wish i was employed
#i need income so badly but im terrified of the prospects of havin 2 live independently but otherwise bein abused 2 death is the only option#:[ im so scared i wish things were easier#it doesn help when they constantly talk abt our neighbor slash childhood bestie whos jus a bit younger than us but alrdy has like#most of her life sorted out shes workin n studyin n they got her a car 4 hwr bday n she has a boyfriend n they r movin out next month#a middle class family btw with two alive parents yadda yadda. her tuition is effortlessly paid n she works on da side 4 her own expenses#n it's like first of all im nawt a well off cis girl. second of all she had qn actual support system n an upbringing — we didn't#i literally vaguely remember spendin most of our childhood n early teens over at her apartment since it was literally two steps away#they'd let us stay 4 hours cuz they felt bad 4 us n they dunno the whole story but they kno we r one of those 'unfortunate' families lol#but yeah the difference between us is night & day. it honestly feels a little crazy since we live literally on the same floor of the same#building despite the feasible differences. idk if dats a good or a bad thing#im jus tired of bein compared 2 her cuz we were failed on so many levels by everyone in our life who was supposed to care 4 us#meanwhile she's an average white blonde girl with a good life by here's standards#i wish we were still close but it became hard approaching teens... still we owr majority of our happy childhood memories 2 hangin out @ her#house or goin places w their family. it almost kinda felt like we were part of it but ik im. exaggeratin#yea idk why i ranted but um i need a job or ill die i think#mika caws
